Baltimore's climate

Baltimore sits at the head of the Chesapeake Bay, which gives it a humid subtropical climate that leans continental in winter. Summers run hot and sticky, with July highs typically in the upper 80s°F and dew points that make it feel hotter than the thermometer says — the harbor and surrounding pavement hold heat well into the evening. Winters are milder than inland Maryland but still bring occasional Nor'easters that can drop significant snow on the city in a single event, alongside long stretches of gray, damp cold in the 30s and 40s°F.

Spring and fall are Baltimore's most comfortable stretches — mild days, cool nights, and the lowest humidity of the year, usually peaking in October for fall color and April/May for mild, dry stretches.
